This series covers the entire book of Joshua, providing an excellent practical theology and historical overview for your edification and for group study. You can use it as a curriculum, or for personal edification. Pastor Philip Whealy helps you to understand the application of Joshua to your daily life, as “God-breathed and … useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim 3:16)

Jesus said the Old Testament is all about Jesus (Luke 24:27 – “beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.”). He believed it was a historical document, therefore we believe it is 100% factual.

The Book of Joshua spans about 25 years, starting soon after the death of Moses (Joshua 1:1) around 1406 BC, before the conquest commenced. The conquest of Canaan (up to chapter 13) possibly took about 7 years, and Joshua’s final address and subsequent death came almost 19 years later.

We see Jesus in the book of Joshua, and an analogy of our abundant life in Christ (as did the writer of Hebrews). Everything in Joshua challenges us to live a life of holiness, obedience and faith that all work by love for our great Yeshua.
